Front-end Web Developer

The successful candidate will possess a sound knowledge of modern front-end web development techniques, including expert knowledge of essential web development skills - HTML in various standards up to HTML5; CSS and JavaScript.

You’ll also be up to speed on platforms and methodologies including jQuery, MVC frameworks, source control and deployment techniques, client-side optimisation, caching and particularly how to apply these modern standards to a wide array of platforms and devices – mobile, TV, tablets and emerging technologies.

You’ll also have a firm grasp of accessibility and web standards, best practices in usability and user experience, with a careful eye for wireframing and information architecture – working in partnership with design and back-end development staff to create the rich engaging products which will greatly extend our digital reach.

Back-end Web Developer

The successful candidate will ideally possess a degree in Computer Science or equivalent, and with a proven track record of building compelling and robust applications in the web or mobile environment, you’ll work with industry-standard software and tools to create the applications which will greatly extend our digital reach.

Possessing expert PHP and MySQL skills, you will also have a grasp of emerging NoSQL and document-oriented database systems. In addition you will have experience of MVC frameworks such as CodeIgniter, or Zend, and object-oriented design principles. A knowledge of the LAMP stack, hosting and system maintenance is a plus, as well as experience of delivering very high-traffic, high-volume pages with a close eye on performance optimisation and uptime.

You will also have experience of search functionality (such as Sphinx, Elastic Search), API and Web Services.
